PO man came back to the store today to apologize for his behavior. He said I was only following procedure and he shouldn't have become angry with me for the university not giving him proper documentation.
Since this is not the first time that an angry customer has returned to apologize, I think it's fair to say that although I might seem like a raging bitch, I actually am very professional. People just don't like hearing "No," but that's their own issue to deal with. I'm just doing my job.
