The History of Love by Nicole Krauss
I can't put this book down. I love the Krauss's writing. It's gentle and tender without being sappy.
Pledged by Alexandra Robbins
Talk about a world I know nothing about. This book, subtitled "The Secret Life of Sororities," is the result of a year Robbins did undercover at a southern university. It's a very interesting social commentary mixed with soap-opera elements (will Sabrina sleep with her professor? Why did Amy let the guy who date-raped her come over?). I like it, but find myself skimming parts that aren't directly about the girls.
The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton
I thought I was a Wharton fan. I loved Ethan Frome. But I just can't get into HoM. I just really don't like the main character much, but don't hate her enough to find her intriguing. We'll see.

I'm trying to go back to some classics that I've missed, as well as to authors I really enjoy (Hemingway, Fitzgerald). I need something that challenges me, but a little bit of fun (The Portable Door) will be nice too.
Goals are good.
And crossing things off of a list is quite satisfying.
