The Da Vinci Code...
People are obsessed with this book. So then they read "Angels and Demons." And then they come to me and say, "I want a book exactly like the Da Vinci Code." Well, there are really no other books exactly like the Da Vinci Code, that's why it's an enormous success, right?
Does anyone have suggestions about what I could offer people in that genre? Perhaps, even, something that's well-written? Thanks.
As a side note, we have a lady who is OBSESSED with the conspiracy theory behind The Da Vinci Code. Like, she comes in every day to see if we have any new books and tells me about what she's been reading and then I saw her in the cafe reading and HIGHLIGHTING some "behind the da vinci code" book. I now run away when I see her coming. I just..I mean, when crazy people approach you on the street, you can walk away. But I'm stuck behind the damn register. Just like with the Mary Kay woman the other day. She was a customer, and I was ringing her up, but no, I don't want to give her my phone number, but how do I say this when she shoves her card at me. Unfair to put me in that position, lady. Ditto to the guy who was hitting on poor Molly. It's awfully hard to give a brush-off when you're folding up their over-priced sweatshirts. There's nowhere to hide!
