The best part of jury duty so far is that I get to go out for lunch every day. Not like out to a restaurant, but at least for a sandwich. Or pizza. Or sushi. The possibilities are really endless, and with all the little shops around faneuil, plus the nice food-court-that's-not-a-food-court, I've been having fun. Anyway, since I normally eat at home--usually some concoction of yogurt and wheatgerm and frozen berries, which is really getting old--this whole thing is quite the treat. There's no place to put food. I could bring a PB&J, but that's not really my style. Especially a warm, mushy one that had been jostled around in my bag all day. Thus, I get to eat out. Yum.
The one thing I do miss is the food network. I LOVE the food network. But I'm used to watching "Everyday Italian" every day, and I miss it, and I miss Giada, and I just keep sitting in jury duty thinking, "I bet this is the day that she's going to do polenta. She did meat all last week and I was pissed, but today she's going to do polenta. And tomorrow she'll do risotto. I just know she's picking the hard things while I'm gone. Damn it."
So then I had to purchase some kitchen accessories at Crate & Barrel to make myself feel better. I'm perfectly justified. Perfectly.

Good luck with jury duty. It should make for an interesting post when it's all over.
I got a kick out of your suffering from cooking show withdrawl.
Hang in there - polenta is highly overated.
