Movies
There are a lot of books that are made into movies. Probably 75% of the movies out right now stem from books. It's perfectly reasonable to go into a bookstore and request the book that a movie was based on.
HOWEVER. There are movies that are just movies. For example, "The Queen," which is based on the Queen of England's reaction to Diana's death. It's just a movie. No book. There are books about the Queen of England. But the movie just itself. Apparently this is too hard for some people to fathom.
And take this interaction. "I'm looking for a book. It's probably called 'Breach.' Like to new movie."
Sarah goes to look up the book and obviously doesn't find anything. SINCE IT'S NOT. A. BOOK. The woman says that it's a true story, based on the spy Robert Hansson (she doesn't provide the second 's') and she doesn't know if it's a book or not.
Okay, that's fine if she doesn't know if it's a book. But she shouldn't become irritated when poor Sarah can't find anything. And then, as Sarah is trying to help her, and the woman being a total bitch, the woman just wanders away. No, "thank you for taking 15 minutes to find something that doesn't exist," no, "I guess I'll look for something else," nothing. She finally comes back with a book, and when Sarah asks her if she found what she was looking for, the woman say, "Well, no....but I guess I'll just get this."
It just bothers me when I see people going out of their way to help customers, and having those customers treat them so poorly. I want to shake this woman and say, "Sarah is getting a DOCTORATE. Be nice." Although, seriously, it doesn't matter if she is getting a doctorate degree or if she's a sixteen-year-old at her first job. If the person is putting every effort into finding what you want, there is absolutely no need to treat someone as if they are beneath you.
Retail does not = love to be treated like shit.
Now, please give me a book that actually exists. I would be more than pleased to locate it for you. Really.
