Bird? OWEN??

I've had more than a few people ask why H and I call each other Bird.
This is why.
It started out innocently enough. We would warn each other quietly about a crazy customer..."Uh...serious 'Bird' here..."
Then we started saying, "So I had a real Birdy today."
And then H said, when I was ranting about something, "Okay Birdface, let's just have some pretzels."
And a monster was born.
We now use, for anything amusing or irritating or silly, the term "bird." The way it is said has become part of the definition. Putting the wrong accent on the word can completely distort the interpretation.
Hence the following conversation:
"So there was a bird.."
"Like, singing bird or bird bird?"
"Bird bird. But not like a real bird."
"Oh."
"But by the end? BIRD."
"Ug."
"I know."
"You're my birdface."
"Am I more a birdface when I do this?"
"No, then you're Owen!"

"Or Cha-Char?"
"If he's trying to be intimidating. Which he's not."
"Shall I make the Owen noise?"
"Only if you want to scare people."
"Like scary Mary?"
"Oh god."
"I kind of do..."
"Cleo?"
"YES!"
"You're such a big bird."
"Okay Snuffy."

This post was really just a big prelude for sat-BIRD-day. A day in which I have to work when I usually don't and H is delighted by my surly company.
And I make the Owen face more than once.
Eh.
