My crocs.

So, crocs are ugly. BUT, they're made of this rubbery foam that's antimicrobial (no smell) and deliciously shock-absorbant. When I started working at the store I would have to ice my knees at the end of the day (I have tendonitis anyway, so standing eight hours really isn't what I should be doing). I couldn't even cook dinner because it involved standing.

And then I bought my crocs. Suddenly I could stand for eight hours AND then come home and make soup from scratch. Sure, crocs don't really fit with my outfits (although I have gone into "j.crew casual" for the summer, which does allow a bit more leeway). At some point, however, I decided I just didn't care. I started wearing them with skirts, even, which really does look ridiculous.

Today, my first day back from the big j.d., I happily donned my crocs and headed to work. If I love them so much, you might ask, why didn't I wear them on my hiatus? Good question! And this is why: I love flip-flops more. Especially when I'm sitting in a comfy chair and taking myself out to lunch. Flip-flops are not allowed at the bookstore for safety reasons, which is fine with me, because they're a little too flimsy for endurance standing.

Anyway, at the end of the day, I was talking to two people and happened to bang my hand on a pile of calendars while making a point. Suddenly a landslide ensued and about one hundred calendars came smashing down onto my feet--my feet that were happily encased in my rubbery, protective crocs. Had I been wearing any other footwear, a significant amount of pain would have been involved. Go crocs.

But imagine my amusement when I checked a blog I read and saw this. Apparently crocs are a point of contention with other people, too. I especially like the "comments" part--there are people more crazy than I am! Yay!

Ahhh...crocs!

I got a pair for Mother's Day and thought they looked a bit weird, but I have since become inseparable from them.

I was convinced of their comfort when I was in NYC a month ago and saw a woman dressed in a very formal outfit - with crocs.
